Nothing in these terms and conditions affects a Student's statutory rights. Subject to paying for any Bookings used, a Student may cease to use the Study Turtle service at any time.
To protect the privacy and intellectual property of our tutors and students, you are not permitted to record lessons using external software, mobile phones, or screen-recording tools. If you have any child protection or safeguarding concerns, please contact Study Turtle immediately via our website contact form.
6.0 Lesson Fees and Payment
6.1 Structure of Lesson Fees
A "Lesson Fee" consists of the Tutor’s fee combined with Study Turtle’s platform service fee. All applicable Lesson Fees are clearly displayed on the Website prior to confirming a booking. The confirmed Lesson Fee will also appear on your account dashboard, in your booking confirmation emails, and on your final payment receipts.
Session rates are clearly displayed on the Platform prior to booking. All prices are listed in Pounds Sterling (GBP, £).
6.2 Fee Changes
Study Turtle reserves the right to adjust Lesson Fees. Any proposed changes to pricing will be posted on the Website and communicated to affected Users prior to new bookings taking effect.
6.3 Payment Processing and Authorization
Payment processing services are provided by Stripe Payments UK, Ltd (or its regional affiliates) and are governed by the Stripe Connected Account Agreement and Stripe Services Agreement.
Authorization: By confirming a booking, the Student or Parent/Guardian authorizes Study Turtle to instruct Stripe to charge their designated credit or debit card for the full Lesson Fee 24 hours after the scheduled end time of each completed session (or as otherwise specified during checkout).
Payment Failure: Failure to settle payments promptly may result in the immediate suspension of platform access and the cancellation of future scheduled lessons.
6.4 Missed Sessions & Non-Attendance
Student Non-Attendance: If a Student fails to attend a scheduled session (whether online or in person) without providing notice in accordance with our Cancellation Policy, the full Lesson Fee remains payable and non-refundable.
Tutor Attendance & Minimum Waiting Time: For online sessions, the full Lesson Fee applies provided the Tutor logs into the Virtual Classroom and remains available for at least 15 minutes from the scheduled start time. If a Tutor fails to attend within this 15-minute window, the session will not be charged, or a full refund/credit will be issued.
6.5 Complaints, Refunds, and Disputed Charges
If a Student or Parent raises a formal complaint—such as claiming a missed lesson by a tutor, requesting a refund, or invoking a satisfaction guarantee—charges may still be processed at the standard billing time. Any verified refunds or account credits will subsequently be issued in accordance with our Refund Policy.
7.0 Cancellations, Rescheduling and Refund Rights
7.1 Statutory 14-Day Right to Cancel (Cooling-Off Period)
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have the legal right to cancel your contract with Study Turtle within 14 calendar days of signing up or booking services without giving a reason.
To cancel, you must notify us in writing via the website contact form.
Services Delivered During Cooling-Off: If you request a tutoring session to be delivered within this 14-day period, you explicitly acknowledge that you waive your right to a refund for any sessions already completed prior to your cancellation notice.
7.2 Standard Cancellations & Rescheduling by Students/Parents
Once a lesson is confirmed outside or following the initial 14-day cooling-off period, the following rules apply:
More than 24 Hours’ Notice: You may cancel or reschedule a lesson at no cost. Any pre-paid lesson fees will be credited back to your account or refunded.
Less than 24 Hours’ Notice: If you cancel or request to reschedule within 24 hours of the scheduled start time, or if a student fails to attend ("No-Show"), the full Lesson Fee remains payable and non-refundable.
After Lesson Start: Bookings cannot be cancelled once a session has commenced.
Extenuating Circumstances: In exceptional circumstances, a full or partial refund for a late cancellation may be granted at the sole discretion of Study Turtle and the assigned tutor.
7.3 Cancellations by Tutors or Study Turtle
If a tutor or Study Turtle must cancel a session due to illness or unforeseen emergencies:
The student will be notified as early as possible via email or the Website.
The student will be offered the choice of rescheduling for a mutually convenient time or receiving a full refund/credit for the cancelled session.
7.4 Lateness Policy
Student Lateness: If a student arrives late, the session will still end at its original scheduled time. Lost minutes will not be added to the end of the lesson or refunded.
Tutor Lateness: Tutors are expected to be prompt. If a tutor is late by more than 10 minutes, the lost time will either be added to the session (if mutually agreed) or made up during a future lesson at no additional cost.
